Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hey guys, ive been working on a project for a couple of months now, im getting to the end of it, all of my work is pretty basic components and commands, but id like to kick it up a notch and start with something a little more complicated. Basically i have cubes as geometry, i found a script a while ago that adds mor cubes to it depending on some parameters, the problem here is, id like some advice about moving geometry(box) according to the shadow this geometry(box) produces on another one. I think its pretty complicated but i know it can be done.

Hi Javier,

there is a shadow caster component which projects the shadow of a bunch of meshes onto a plane. You can also approach this with one of the occlusion component, they allow you to sample a collection of points in space to see whether any of them are in the shadow of another object.

However I wonder if you want to move these objects just once based on shadow, or if you're looking to iteratively adjust their position based until you reach a state you're happy with?

Thanks a lot David, as you see in the picture this cubes project shadows on one another, but id like them to move according on the shadow they cast on one another, could you give me a little more information on how to do this ? or how does the shadow caster component work ?
Thanks a lot.
