Moving AND rotating an object using vector values in grasshopper?

Hi All.

As per the title I would like to move and rotate objects based on a vector movement.

For example:

Say that the top object is my original, the green lines are my two vectors - and the bottom right had object is my 'transformed' object.

I need to do this is 3D space - the example above is only X and Y.

Does anyone know if/how this could be done?

Thanks in Advance.

If you added a third vector it would be easy in 3D space, provided you supplied the "anchor" points for the vectors.

Ning is being annoying here is the link:

Hi Danny.

I could add a third vector through grasshopper as an interpolation of the first two?

To add some context, I am trying to create a self drawing model of a pipeline for work - which has cradle supports - the cradle supports are moving but 'should' remain in the plain of the pipeline orientation.

The vectors are surveys we do 6 monthly to check on-going hillside movement.

I tried to open the link you attached - but it does not seem to load properly for me (internet explorer or chrome). Would you be able to copy the image you linked and copy it in here?

Thanks very much.

Thats why i included the mediafire link. The third vector wouldnt be any good in a straight line as it is needed to create a reference plane

Thanks Danny.

Unfortunately I cannot see anything on the mediafire link - I just get a half loaded page... regardless of browser. By mentioning a third vector I think I know how I could work this...

Move the object based on the first point, then rotate by the angle between the original two vectors using the three vectors as your rotation plane?

Is that basically what you tried to send?

Cheers

Lyndon
