As far as I can understand, you almost have it...you just need to add a Move component feed with your selected item and a vector that you can create as you want.

Yep...grasshopper always keep all the steps in the process...you can hide the old ones but they are going to be calculated. So yes, you don't copy (usually) in grasshopper, you just create a new geometry that comes from a step behind moved.
