modify waves into a mesh made out of bars

Hi,

For a study case I have this curved surface, made out of a square grid. Now I want to simplify this form by making it to rectangular bars. Does somebody have an idea how I can modify these 'waves' into a mesh made out of bars like the example below ( I couldn’t find a better image but you get the idea I guess).
