algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi everybody,

I am trying to model a prestressed ruled surface shell with tendons in karamba, my first approach was defining the tendons as beams, prestressing them with initial strain and then adding them to the assembly. To avoid rigid body movement of the beams i fixed them to the shell body with "beam joint agent" but that didnt work for me.

Does anybody have experience with this, or is it even possible at the moment with karamba?

Max

Hi Max,

in order to integrate beams into a shell feed the 'Pts'-output of the LineToBeam-component into the 'IPts' input-plug of the 'Mesh Breps'-component (see Karamba3D Utilities section). This integrates these points into the shell mesh and thus rigidly connects them to the shell.

Hi Clemens,

thanks for your answer. I also wrote to the support and they send me a version pretty similar to what you wrote. But still I am getting an error message, that says that there are rigid body modes in the system and the shell isnt being calculated.

In the model I came up with, there is no error message about rigid body modes, however the shell is not being calculated or shown.

Im not looking for double support, but i think this topic of prestressed shell structures might be interesting for others. So if the support finds a working solution I'll post it here.

Regards,

Max

Hi Max,

the definition 'FileFromSupport.gh' works when I open it.

In order to find the problem in 'MyFile.gh' apply the divide and conquer strategy for debugging: remove parts of the definition until it starts to work. Try to develop small test cases which include the essence of what you want to achieve.

Best,

Clemens
