algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Dear all,

I am using Karangoo to perform form finding analysis starting from a rectangular mesh. In order to compare results with Sofistik analysis and a real structure, the maximum vertical displacement at the center of the grid should be 11.54 m. Unluckily  I could not reach this displacement because the model "explodes". Any tips?

Another question: how could I evaluate the value of the total vertical reactions at the end of form finding?

Please find attached the GH file.

Thanks in advance.

You have your lengths going into the 'cutoff' input of the springs instead of the Rest length. Changing this it does reach equilibrium.

Reactions at anchored points are missing in the current version - they will be back in the next release, but in the meantime, you can find the reaction force by measuring the sum of the stresses in the attached springs.

Daniel thanks for your answer and sorry for the mistake.

Now lengths go into rest length but I am not able to reach equilibrium with a vertical displacement at the center of the grid of 11.54 m. Any suggestions?

ps: I check vertical displacement with the panel on the right.

Hi Leonardo,

Have you made sure the cutoff value is set to 0 ?

Then are you adjusting the stiffness or the load to reach the desired height ?

Daniel many thanks.

I have solved the problem. Furthermore I have reached the equilibrium at the desired height adjusting the stiffness. I will compare that shape with the same obtained in other software. Thanks for your help.
