Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I am currently trying to mirror my current geometry across the Y axis, but I want it above the existing geometry, not below (see diagram). I thought I could just move it upwards after mirroring, but its creating copies - I'm sure there must be an easier way to mirror the selection? Many thanks for any help!

If you feed Mirror a plane into the P input, the mirrored object willl end up somewhere else, depending on the plane's origin point. In this case, you will probably want to create the plane with a normal parallel to the z axis.

You can also, as you write, just move it upwards after mirroring. Are the copies you get something else than the normal Grasshopper behaviour of showing the output of every component you haven't explicitly turned off the preview of?

Hi Tash,

Try using the "XY plane" component instead of "Unit Y".
Then plug in the most upper point of your original geometry, into the "O" plug of the "XY plane" component.

Many thanks, both of your answers helped!!
