Hi! I'm trying to generate a surface from metaballs line, too. Have you reached a valid solution?

In some cases, duplicates are still generated (in spite of clean data tree). 

It depends also on accuracy parameter. Some low value around 0.1 - 5 , can make final geometry precise without duplicates.
