Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

hi everybody, I am creating a tower composed by diferent pipes that tend to join that will allow to have bigger inner spaces, my problem is that the pipes overlap and when I attach a structural skin, the skin also overlaps, I would like to create the effect of a metaball union in the overlaped areas, I dont know if that is the best way to cut out the overlapped areas.

Any ideas would be really appreciated!!

Maybe the attached is of help. Metaballs in Grasshopper are pure 2D entities, I didn't code up a 3D metaball yet.
