Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi all,

Im trying to use the mesh ray command, but it only displays the point of intersection, not the ray.

Any suggestions?

thx,

Veronica.

Hi Veronica,

components typically only display the data in the output parameters and any data you might have directly set in the input. If inputs are inherited from another parameter via a connector wire, they are not shown as part of that component. There are a few exceptions to this rule, but by and large that is how the preview works.

Mesh|Ray does not output the line segments, it only outputs the intersection point and the intersection event state.

If you want to see the ray, create a line segment from the Ray start to the intersection point.

Thanks a lot David.

Hi David,

I am trying to use Mesh Ray to create an intersection point only if there are no obstacle surfaces between the target surface and the source point grid, and then report back to the grid, changing color for true/false. The reason for using Mesh Ray is as a 3D isovist.

However...Mesh Ray intersects through all obstacle surfaces, not providing a clear reading of whether there is direct line of sight between source and target.

What would you recommend.

Regards, Arpan
