Hello

I think all length of real mesh are always the same length so here is a method using Kangaroo and mesh collision. Human plugin is just used to draw lines. 

In order to have what you want you have to make a shape closed having the shape of you microphone but  longer at the bottom. You must place a quad mesh (like the real thing) on top of this microphone, you choose the number of wire (here 50) and you launch the simulation.
