Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello,

I am able to create a grasshopper mesh with a gradient as a color. When baked this also displays fine with the gradient applied.
Now is there a way to export this mesh to 3ds max while preserving the gradient ? I tried as 3ds and obj but the object imports without texture.

Also, I'm curious to know how exactly grasshopper applies this color to the mesh ? For eg how to remove this color in rhino if I no longer want it ?

Thanks a lot.

Hi Karim,

it's not a texture. Every vertex of the mesh has it's own colour, and only file formats which support this can handle such a setup. I think you can export to VRML while preserving mesh vertex colours, and perhaps Max can import VRML correctly...

thanks David,
it worked fine with VRML 2.0
I didn't know that rhino could handle vertex colors.
Could Parametric texturing be next?!
CurvatureAnalysis, ThicknessAnalysis, DraftangleAnalysis... these are all FalseColor (as it's known) display modes.

hi karim,
could you please post a screenshot or the definition here?
i cant find how to apply the gradient to the mesh.
thanks in advance for the help
