algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hello,
I'm very new to Grasshopper - just started a couple weeks ago - and need some help!
I'm trying to figure out how to correctly map some curves generated in GH onto an elliptical surface in Rhino. I wanted to project the curves correctly around an elliptical surface (that has been measured to fit around my wrist) without it stretching or deforming but I for the life of my couldn't figure it out.
I assumed it had something to do with the Isocurves but I would really love some help.
I've uploaded the files below. (I haven't cleaned up the Rhino files so the layers are quite messy).

I opted instead to map the curves to the new surface using an unrolled version of your surface as a reference. The curves don't line up perfectly, but if you scale the flat surface in one direction, you can get the result you wanted. Shifting the surface back and forth will also influence the outcome. Also, I just realized that I forgot to switch back your preview mode, so it's currently set to preview selected geometry.
Yes, that's exactly what I've been trying to accomplish!
Such a quick response. Thanks.
No problem!
Hi Julie, since I'm not exactly sure of the effect you're after, I added the following to Christian's def. Right now, your elliptical section is a trimmed surface while the source is an untrimmed surface, which means you're a clipping a portion of what's intended to be mapped. It still looks pretty good as is but to convert your bracelet into an untrimmed surface, I performed a Sweep2 using the curved edges as rails - and then mapped. It now encompasses the fully mapped curves. Your choice.
