algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi, I am trying to map a message/text onto a sphere and create something similar to the attached image.
I figure in Rhino, there's a "flow along surface" command that does the job pretty well. I wonder if we could do the same in grasshopper.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Wilspiration,
How about dividing your text curve with a really small step and transposing the uv coordinate of these points on the surface onto the sphere(providing that the surface and the sphere have the same parameterisation) before interpolating the result into a new curve?
This way you would use the original surface as a map of the sphere...

Hi Sylvain,
Thanks for the response, any hint as how you would divide the curve?
Thanks
Hi Wilspiration
Have a look at these 2 threads..
Create your text with the first code then map it onto the sphere with the second. NO need to divide curve it will map the long lines over the surface fine.
Hope that helps
Matt
Matt, I am able to get the text to curve with Python plugin. However, I am not able to wrap the message to the sphere. It says "Input parameter W failed to collect data". What value should to W be? Please see the attached images.
Thanks again
