algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi!

I am facing 2 problems that are dependent on each other, so I am posting them in one question.

1)      I am trying to model a roof surface controlled by 2 NURBS curves. The special feature of the surface is the double curvature in the 2 opposite angles (as shown in the picture). As a consequence, I created filleted curves (that depend on the NURBS curves) from which I am trying to model the double curved surface. I haven’t found a way to create just one surface. I have tried the loft command through all the curves-lines at once, but it fails. So, I have created the surface in parts using Loft commands or Network surface or Edge surface. The result is one open brep after joining the surfaces.

2)      When trying to mesh the surface with Mesh Breps (Karamba component), it creates different meshes in each part of the previous surface resulting in a not good mesh quality. Furthermore, by running just a simple TH1 analysis for gravity load in Karamba I can see that there are discontinuities in the results in the borders of the different surfaces (It is visible in the picture).

I have tried many different components to model the surface, but the transition from the filleted curve to the line is always causing problems.

Do you think that I should change the way I modeled the surface in order to achieve one surface (that is easier to mesh)? Or is there a way to create a proper mesh for the Karamba analysis based on the open brep?

Any suggestions would be really much appreciated.

U should Try #Remeshing  # MeshMAchine 

Hi Shridhar! Thank you for the reply and the suggestions. 

I have tried the Remeshing component, but it seems that it is keeping unchanged the boundaries of the previous surfaces, which is not desirable.

But, I have also used the remeshing script of Daniel Piker

which is kind of a previous version of the Meshmachine component and the new mesh is a lot better! 

So, I wanted to try also the MeshMachine component, but the output is not a mesh. Do you have any idea how to convert goo to mesh?

You'll need to put this into a "Plankton Mesh" container first:

I have installed the latest Plankton from https://github.com/meshmash/Plankton/releases

but I can't find any component with the name Plankton Mesh.

 It should be here right? Do you think that I should install a previous version? :/

I installed a previous version and I found the component! Thank you again for the help!

Not sure why it isn't in the latest build, but I had some files that used the old solver so kept both on my machine (and so had never looked for it in the new set)... Glad I could help!
