Making GH Show Hidden Selection

Are you talking about the show selected geometry button in the tool bar?

No.

There are limits to the display pipeline incorporated in GH. It seems to be based on the time a component was added to the canvas as to which takes priority. Which is ok when working from Left to right across the canvas. But when you go back and add a component earlier in the definition it takes priority and becomes annoying.

The only other option is to toggle the display selected objects only option from the toolbar

It's a bit tiresome, but you could also connect the component you wish to select to a "Custom preview":
