Logic gates, dividing an extruded shape into two parts

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone can help out with a problem I'm having. I want to set up a logic gate to evaluate quadrilaterals. If a vector, say x, is equal to or greater than twice the length of the y vector, I want one set of geometry to extrude; if less than, another set. Seems like my equation is off somewhere. 

Also, I want one set of extruded geometry (the gate where the elongated quadrilateral would go) to divide its extruded box into two equal parts set a certain distance apart. I'm having difficulty knowing where to start with this too. I've set up the basic algorithm in the attached files. Thanks to anyone who can lend a hand.

Okay, I have changed my method as the first one may be able to be solved and was a bit abstruse. Now I've decided I can do this manually, so I've constructed a simple system where I want an offset polyline surface to trim itself with another master set of polylines. Image and files attached. For some reason, this is not working either. The blue annotation in the image is what I want trimmed. Hope this makes things easier. By the way, I'm using the StudioAVW 'polyline offset' component.

Pretty sure I figured it out. I'm not sure if there's a more efficient way of going about it but this seems to work.
