Is it possible to load xyz Points from a *.txt file in Grasshopper?
Can anyone help me?

Hi Henne,
yeah sure. There's a [File Read] component and you can also copy/paste the data into a Panel. The data will require some post-processing, something like the following:
If you're willing to edit your original text file then you can also use the [Import Coordinates] component from the Params Tab, Input Panel.
You'll have to remove all double quotes and remove all consecutive spaces.

Ok Thanks,
Is it faster when i edit my orginal text?
I have over one million points. Is that even feasible?
Regards
henne
If the text file is something which will never change then I recommend changing it directly. If however the text data is the output of some other program, then you want to set it up so it works even when the file is replaced. It will be faster if you modify the textfile beforehand.
A million points should not be a problem, though you may want to maximize one viewport and switch to Dot preview for points (Grasshopper Display menu) to speed up the display.
Any operations you then perform on a million points may take a long time of course, what do you have in mind?

Hi David,
is it possible that you give me an example with the "Import Coordinate" function and a short text file?
For me, it does not show any values.
Thank you for your help!!!

You'll need the latest version of Grasshopper, I now remember that there was a bug in that component. Get 0.9.0060 or later.
