algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hey guys,

I'm not sure how to proceed from this point:

I have a list of lengths and now i want to create a set of points which are spaced with these lengths in between the points.

So:

List of lengths :

  • 5
  • 3
  • 8
  • 1
  • 4

And then i want to have :

point A

- distance of 5

Point B

- distance of 3

Point C

- distance of 8

...

Problem is that i do not know ho many points i will have in the end.

Any idea on how to tackle this problem?

Thank you very much girls and guys.

Hi Maxim,

from my perspective, the explanation is quite vague... Am I correct that you have two sets of points? If not just use flattened list of distances in 'Construct Point' component

Not really no, i need a kind of recursive function to set the distance from the last point.

Sorry for my vague description, it's not easy to write down a mathematical problem :-}

I'm trying to look into scripting it, but phoe, thats not easy, brace yourself for a question regarding scripting quite soon!

Thanks anyway!

Try using [Mass Addition] which has a Partial Results output labelled (Pr) which would give the results 5,8,16,17,21 which you can then use as either distances on a curve or as x components of points

That is very useful, Danny!!

Thank you for this, i will have a play with it!
