Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

I am trying to take sections from a spiral form equally spaced around the spiral base curve. The difficulty I'm having is that sections seem to have no limit. The Perp frames aligned along the curve do give a section at that point but the plane continues and slices up the rest of the spiral form.

Is it possible to constrain the section cuts to just one part of a Brep, or perhaps extract form a list the curve that is nearest the Perp frame, discarding the rest? One issue is the spiral geometry is rather organic, overhanging the base curves so even when I set up a rectangle as a frame some were intersecting the brep beyond that point at the base.

Any suggestions would be appreciated,

Thank you,

Hi you can try cut spiral by brep to brep component. Look please picture.

Hi, Thanks Valentin, I'm still getting planes extending into the spiral at the wrong place. My spiral is quite tight. Maybe there is a way to control the size of each cutting plane/brep instead of 1 size for all. That would solve my problem?

be better if you attached your definition. But of course you can use different size of cutting planes.

Hi, Sorry for delay. I have attached my file which now enables me to control each cutting plane but its not very flexible should I need to add sections. I'd like to extract the section nearest the frame but discard the extra cuts, then it would allow for varying the number of sections.

regards

Henry

Hi Henry, I found very nice method how you can cut complicated geometry.
It cluster should be working great
