algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Layout groups?

Been searching for a while, has anyone ever came up with similar definition as unroll surface to lay out rhino groups(but grasshopper doesn't recognize groups does it?) Would there be any smart way to do this? Maybe unroll a single connected brep into something like a cutout?

Dunno if it can handle rhino groups, but have you looked at Ivy?
Seemed a powerful if complex brep unroll-er plugin
Only messed around with it for a day though, so dunno how robust it is or if it can help you.
