algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi every body, I'm new in this site. I've been working on the generation of terrain using heightmaps and image sampler- wires- boundary, etc. I have my finished and sliced model into 300 slides. Is there a way of projecting this pieces inside a rectangle that simulates the position of them in the wood panel and number them? I dont have RhinoNest and i have tried finding a solution with Paneling tools but so far no much has come up.

The Bowerbird plugin can create layer slices and in the demos it shows you how to orient the slices onto the XY plane.

Nesting them optimally within your blank material board sizes is not a simple task. You would need some nesting software. Nesting can get very complex if you have constraints such as keeping pieces oriented with a grain direction or allowing/not allowing pieces to be flipped etc.

As good as nesting software is, a human can often find better solutions because the nesting software usually just tries every combination it can. This makes it slow if there are a lot of combinations.

I would suggest lookign at the Bowerbird plugin examples to understand how to orient all the pieces from the slicing layer planes onto the XY plane and then manually shuffling them to best fit your boards.

Bowerbird also has some id text examples which will help you.
