algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hey guys and gals i'm hoping someone could assist me here. I'm trying to do a sunlight and shadow analysis.
However I come to a problem when I try and add the brep in which I want to carry the analysis out on, I can assign the context (single building taller than cluster behind it) without a problem. However as soon as I add the building I wish to study (cluster of smaller building in the back) GH and rhino crashes.
I have reason to believe there is a fault or value too high which is causing too much computing, and crashing the program.
Any help appreciated!
Thanks
Kyle

hi kyle, I have looked at your model and the problem I believe that you need to clean up your model before input it to Brep. if you zoom in the building with the pitch roof there are unresolved surface thus you need to explode your block and then delete some unnecessary parts and merge some intersecting surface before inputting it to ladybug.
I would spend few minutes trying to fix the model in Rhino or GH if I were you.
here is the model that I have fixed in Rhino. you can do the same via Grasshopper if you generate your geometry from GH definition.for presentation sake, there are some area especially the context building where you need to rebuild the surface because I could see some parts projecting about 5cm away from your planar wall, however I would not bother since that is just a context geometry.
note that Ladybug will become slow if you have massive geometry to test.
Welcome to
Grasshopper
