Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

I am trying to model trefoil type surfaces (something similar to the UNStudio diagram for the mobius) but to no avail. Is there any method (such as using expressions) in grasshopper to generate these shapes? Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Ben

Is this the trefoil knot you seek?

check out rinus roelofs, a sculturer that uses scripting methods:

Hi pim,

Yes! This is what I'm looking for. Thanks for the link to the site as well, there are some amazing shapes and images on the site, but it doesnt say anything about how to model or script them using grasshopper or rhinoscript?

Thanks,

Ben
Check out eat-a-bug.

He does a lot of GH work with mathematical surfaces.

Also Math Plug-in for GH.
Go to http://www.rinusroelofs.nl/workshop/gh-workshop-rr.pdf and then look at page 22.
The trefoil can be seen as a special case of a spiral around torus.
