Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi, I'm brand new to Karamba. I have a construction project on architectural studies. I just want to optimize this irregular grid, to have to smallest displacement. The main idea is  changing density of grid according to location of supports. In my script, displacement show extremly high, but when i put this in Robot Structural Analysis, everything is alrgiht. Also, beam viewer seems not to work proprely. Please help.

Hey Krystian,

you need to split some lines for example by using the Line Intersection component of karamba. Beams are only connected to each other if they share the nodes at their start/end points. So the blue beams in your pic where supported (and that's why the model could be calculated anyways), but the grid structure flew around without any connection to your supports resulting in high displacements.

Look at the attached file and copy the Line Intersection component in the same spot in your definition and it should be fine. Please clean up your mess a bit before posting a grasshopper definition next time using groups and some annotations. It makes helping easier ;-)
