In your definition you are applying gravity to the nodes of one mesh, and springs to the edges of a completely different surface. Because they don't share nodes (except at the corners) they are not affecting each other.

You need to apply gravity to the nodes of the same mesh whose edges you are making into springs.

I'd also recommend using the latest version of Kangaroo.
