Hello guys,

I wonder if anyone has a solution on outputting a jpg file from Grasshopper?

Thanks for your answer!

Outputting what? The Rhino viewports? The Grasshopper canvas? Some drawing you made using Grasshopper components? And why specifically jpg?

Helo David, thanks for your instant reply. I would like to create a geometric pattern and export it as a rastered pixel image. Do you have a solution for this? Cheers. N

I would say the easiest is just to generate geometry, then export the Rhino viewport showing that geometry. It will be difficult to get it pixel perfect, as that will depend on the exact camera properties.

If you want to create a bitmap with exact control over each shape and the resolution, then you may have to resort to VB or C# to make that image. It is reasonably straightforward to create images through code, at least for solid fills and solid lines.

Grasshopper does not currently support bitmaps as a native data type (this is planned for the next version, but that doesn't help you now), but I think some plugins like FireFly do have some bitmap support. I cannot tell you how far that goes though.

I see. Unfortunately, firefly doesnt seem to be possible to generate a pixel image. Thanks for your suggestion and this amazing plug-in. Looking forward to the next version! N

What sort of shapes do you want to draw? I merely ask because the next version is quite a long way away.

I see. Im trying to create pattern for facade panels :)

Hello,

have you tried squid? might do the job.
