algorithmic modeling for Rhino

There are a number of wonderfully well-introduced (and well-designed) possibilities of form explorations in Joseph Choma's, Morphing: A Guide to Mathematical Transformations for Architects and Designers.  My lack of experience in finding ways of translating these explorations into tangible GH definitions is leaving me frustrated.  Has anyone else attempted such a thing?

Can you be more specific about what operation you'd like to encode? That books contains a lot of mathematics.

I don't own the book, but only found some content online. It depends on the nature of the equations. Explicit equations can often be written directly, implicit ones are harder. 2D implicit can be done directly in GH, 3D ones might be possible with a plug-in. There's some GH plug-ins that do iso-surfaces, they be able to solve for custom equations as well.

Many thanks, David.  I was initially having problems with syntax (mostly based on my inexperience with mathematical equations), but have started to work through some of the examples with a bit more success.

I would be keen to work on something like this with you. I'm learning GH to try and program some of the forms in the book.

Mind you, I've just started with GH so the interface is pretty new to me!

Sorry for the long delay, Andrew.  Attached is an example of what I came up with.

No worries, cheers.

It's a long term project for me too. Mainly lack of time.

Hopefully I'll have something up and running before the end of the year.

I'll check out your code.

Andrew

Thanks so much for this! I was just missing out the "Cross Reference"

very useful for producing other parametric 3D stuff:
