algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi ppl.
I just started out to experiment with grasshopper so I followed a couple of tutorials to get the sense of it. Unfortunatelly I'm stucked in a rather easy issue i guess: I cannot join lines!
I have a Srf (simple triangle), exlode it to get its vertices, draw a polyline and measure its area. Now I want to draw a closed planar polyline like seen in the attached file [gh_rhinoview] between the 'C' parameter of the area component (is this possible at all?) and two outline vertices. The polyline component seems to have problems with the area component's 'C'-output - why is this? The next step for me was drawing three single lines and join them together but as u can see in the panel the join component does not even make them close. Why? I also tried to flatten the join's 'C'-output but since I don't really understand what this means I cannot handle this.
I bet Im caught in a beginner's mistake so pls could u spring me out?!
Big thanks in advance.

hey,
I tried to put some informations into the file and how you can do it. There are many ways to reach your aim in grasshopper.
ask further questions!
best Regards

DeDackel, thank u very much for ur support!
This works - of course. :]
For me it's kind of weird to make a surface of multiple lines just to extract the edges in the next step. What's the difference between these extracted edges and the polyline I'd like to draw?
Concerning this issue:
The polyline component seems to have problems with the area component's 'C'-output - why is this?
It seems to happen when I join a polyline and then have its area asf. - so without the join component everything works fine.
Hey,
I do not know the exatct parameters aou set to the polyline. Did you chose "true" to close the polyline. After this joining does not make any sense.
and the edges of the Srf you get already by the explode component (E -output)
Yes I choose TRUE.
After this joining is senseless - ya I know! This is really stupid.
Well, everything's clear so far.
Another question which might be off topic - I hope that's not a problem...?!
In the attachment u find another gh logic which should loft 2 circles, but doesn't work. The loft's runtime error says: Insufficient valid profile curves. Why is this?
Again thanks for ur support. It's good to know to have a very helpfull community behind oneselves.
