algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi everyone

I'm trying to write something that will be able randomly reduce boxes in a 4 x 4 grid, 1 box per row, and transfer all these reduced boxes to the top to add to the tower (just like Jenga). Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

What have you figured out so far? Do you have a work in progress definition? What particular elements of this puzzle are causing you the most difficulty?

Hi Gwendolyn,

Thanks for your reply. I've managed to extrude the tower and do a random reduce but I can't figure out how to start transferring the cubes that I've reduced to the top of the tower. Any tips on how I should proceed?

This will stack the number of cubes that you've removed from the tower on the top. However, it won't:

  • remove any blocks from the newly stacked bunch on the top. I think that you would have to use some looping to achieve that (using Anemone or similar plugin).
  • ensure that there's still at least one block on each layer, preventing a "floating" stack.

I hope that this helps.

Hi.

As Gwendolyn said,

If you want to see the process of removing the box and stacking it on top of it, you might want to use the looping plugin like Anemone.
