Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

Is there anyone running GH, with success, within VMWare 3.0.2?
Just upgraded mine and the hole preview is gone... GH is not showing any preview geometry...

I only use bootcamp and unfortunately do not take enough advantage of the OSX side of life...that being said, we had so many issues this year with students running in VMWare...so in the end, they all switched to bootcamp.
Thanks Luis,

I've been running VMWare 2.x and grasshopper without any major issues... But I've just upgraded to 3.0.2 and the preview of geometry is acting pretty funny.
I've checked all the updates are there (RH-SR7, .NET3.5 SR1, GH0059 plus all MS updates).
Anyways... I can imagine that the BootCamp is the best way of running GH+RH, but I'm hooked on OSX for everything else and just running GH+RH in XP-pro... just wanted to see anybody had the same issues and how they have solved it...

Recently I install the VMWare Fusion and it seems to be working ok for me (...)

If I understand correctly your problems started when you upgrade your VMWare correct?
Could you please post an image that illustrates this issue?

I am highly interested on making VMWare working with Rhino...

Hi Mauricio,

I've been in contact with VMWare...
There are issues regarding 3.x version specially in WIN 7. (I'm running WIN XP-pro) They say that it will be a release before summer which will be dealing with the issues regarding OpenGL and VMWare fusion's video driver. (long time to wait in my opinion) They should put more effort in to solving this kind of issues, and it just should work!

I've managed to solve some of my issues:
win xp upgraded from 2.x to 3.0.2
1. Right click your "My Computer" and choose "Properties"
2. in device manager open the "Display Adapters" and right click "svga ii" and choose "Properties"
3. in driver tab choose to "roll back" and your driver will be degraded to the latest version before the uppgrade.
OBS! this only will work if you have upgraded from earlier version.

In other cases it could help installing the DirctX 9 plug-in for Rhino! (haven't try that yet)

There are some steps in WIN 7 version that you could do... but it's best to contact VMWare in case you would like to experiment with that...

I'll post what I can about this issue gradually...
