Issues testing equality, possibly incorrect data matching?

Hi everyone

I am newish to grasshopper and am trying to follow along with a tutorial but having some trouble with the 'equals' component. Have gone back over the video a number of times and can't see where i am going wrong.

As the image below illustrates i can only get the equals component to output the 'false' boolean even when A appears to equal B.

Where have i gone wrong? any help would be much appreciated, i have attached a simplified definition below if that helps.

This could be a workaround.
