Irregular grid formatting/tagging

Hi

I would like to manipulate my current grid indexing (upper viewport) into another pattern having the untagged points (which are null-points) neglected in the count (lower viewport).





The data I want to use for the tagging is contained within the marked panel, but I don't know how to apply it properly for the actual tagging, as I can't seem to avoid "pseudo-tagging" the null points.  

Any suggestions?
