Inputting sound

Has anybody tried creating a component which has a external auditory input. I wish to be able control a slider from an external auditory input.

I am just beginning to try and learn how to code, also just learning GH.

Any tips on the process I will have to go through would be appreciated. I am mainly interested in understanding whether it would be possible with a beginner's level of programming ability to do this quickly and easily.

I have maked some vvvv Sound Analysis and then imported it into GH from txt file. You need an external app to make the sound work I think.

With gHowl you can import parameters from an external source such as processing... check out this video (with annoying sound!)
