infographic map using arcs between points list

Hi there,

I have a list of points mapped out based on world coordinates . I would like to draw an arc from point 1 to point 2 then point 2 to point 3 and so on. Is there an easy way of doing this as i can  only seem to get splines but it doesnt give the results im looking for. Attached is an example of what im trying to achieve.

Got a wildcard question for you so im not expecting much but have you any idea how i can get hold of a map of the world that would sit in rhino as a line file but to the correct coordinates? Is here such a thing?

great work, I am curious if there is any way to establish a start point and multiple end points for the weave. Like if i set one start point in texas, for example, and multiple end points in new york, california, florida.. it would only draw an arc from texas to new york, texas to california, texas to florida...

Now if i can pick your brain a little further...lets say instead of establishing the points manually i had an excel spreadsheet which had longitude and latitude coordinates for a list of start points and a list of corresponding end points. I have the CAD map of the world, now all I need is a way to translate the longitude latitude coordinates(or city label) to points on the map..I have already started looking into ghowl and the "GEO to XYZ" component but I am not sure if that is what I need...

Please attach the CAD map file and those two exel ones (with starting and ending cities coordinates).

thanks djordje, ive attached two CAD maps you can use, although I prefer the "Timezones" map because it has cities as well. I had attached a sample spreadsheet although I am not sure how I should organize it. Basically each sheet has one start point and multiple end points, so if you can get this one sheet to work I can add more sheets in the future.

I used the Lunchbox plugin, instead of ghowl. They both have Excel reader components, but I did not have ghowl installed. Install the Lunchbox plugin first.
Then open the attached Excel file. I copied all end cities to the Sheet2. Starting city is in the Sheet1.

After that open both attached .3dm and .gh files. In .gh definition set Boolean toggle "Read from excel file" to "True".
That will load the values from your excel file. You will always have to run the excel file first, then hit the toggle to "True". Otherwise the grasshopper definition will not work. When you decide to make some changes to the excel file (let's say add more destination-end cities), turn on the toggle to "False" and then when you are finished with editing the excel file, turn it back to "True". The definition will not work when you close the Excel file. It has to be opened.


It was far easier for me to use the worldmap-LL.dwg one, as it is in correct ratio, and the positioning of the .dwg drawing was correct unlike at Timezones.dwg

i appreciate all your help. So after I bake these lines, If i have another spreadsheet with start points and end points, i can just swap out the information and bake again right? or can i create a break within one spreadsheet?
