Hello...

I'm new on the community...

My names is Jacopo Baldini I'm an Italian student of Architecture...

I'm usign Grasshopper for make the 3dModel of my project exam's...

The theme is a sustanaible tower in Paris...

I would like to reproduce and effect like Agbar Tower of Bacelona and Gws tower of Berlin...

I made all the model and now the problem is how to make the render...

I made whit Grasshoppe lots of object with different gradient color and I don't know if I can import correctly this color in 3dStudioMax...

I woul like to know if is it possible to import in 3dStudioMax the color set of the object maked in Rhino...if is it I would like to know how!!

Anyway I'm also thinking to make a render whit Vray for Rhino...

What do u think?

Thanks for the attention....

Thanks to a tip from to] I have had success with baking the mesh and exporting as .fbx format.  I have not tried with 3D Studio, but this format opened in Maya and I was able to see and render the colors.

Hello...

Thanks for the reply...

I can't export the project as .fbx because Rhino goes in crash.

I don't know if is a system problem or something else but I wanna try to upgrade my RAM...

I have to wait until tomorrow...

Anyway I tried to use a plug-in for 3DS called "nurbs converter" and works fine...

You can import RHINO 3dm format and the colors are ok...

See yaa

Nice!  Yes, I suppose I failed to ask if the geometry was nurbs or mesh....I assumed mesh.  Thanks for the tip on 'nurbs converter'

Hi Jacopo

I had success with importing color to Max using the *.WRL (or *.VRML) format, wich saves the vertex color from rhino ,than you have to use the Vertex color map to the material slot you need in the Material editor

to make it visible in the rendering you can see my result here : http://www.grasshopper3d.com/photo/radiocolor-1?context=user

can you share link to the ''nurbs converter'' ?

good day

ivan

Hello...

Sure man the link is: http://www.npowersoftware.com/ actually I don't know if is the only and the most way for import 3dm files into 3dStudio but It work fine...

Good luck...

Hi guys...

Whit the Rhino5.0Wip I had more luck...

I think the 64bit version work better with big data flow...

Anyway I got some trouble whit the installation of Grasshopper...

I copied the /plugin/grasshopper directory in the plugin directory of Rhino5.0Wip but when I start "Grasshopper" I'm not able to see the Command Panel of it...

There is any tutorial or a post in the forum about the installation of Grasshopper for the Rhino5.0Wip version?

Thanks for the support...

Great tips guy's!!!

thank you very much for sharing this your knowledge!

I have been trying to export color data to 3dsmax with no success for a very long time and now is possible...

EXTREMELLY GRATEFUL...
