Import Image File

I am using the import image facility to flip between images captured from an AVI file.

Also using the timer to do the automatic flipping between images. Unfortunately,

the delay in the loading operation is excessive and thus I am not getting a smooth display.

Is there a way of overcoming this problem?

Hi William,

I assume you're using FireFly to import the images? How big are these images and how long does it take to import a single one? If you enable the Profiler, can you tell which component takes the most time?

Hi David

I attach a screenshot of the grasshopper document. It is the import image component that

delays everything. The image size is 1024 by 1024. Takes about a second

to flip from one image to another. The timer interval has been set to

20 ms.

It may well take that long to decode an image that large. I'm not sure how the IMG component works (it's not one of mine), but if it loads the file, then processes it to make sure it has a specific pixel-format then one second doesn't sound incredibly untoward to me.

I think the developer who wrote IMG will have to jump in here and offer an opinion...
