algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello,

I noticed that definitions with images Embedded Inside get very big.  The image I have added to the definition is 338KB.  While I would expect embedding an image would add some size to the definition (at least the size of the image itself), I did not expect it would add so much.  I can imagine this is a result of writing out the image into the GH file format?  Are there any plans to optimize the file size when embedding images or at least enable relative paths?

Best,

Luis

Hi Luis,

How was the trip? Out of interest how big is your image when saved as a bitmap?

Danny

Crazy trip...

Saved as a BMP its 5.69MB.

I load the image into memory at which point it loses the original image file data and don't want to save it with a lossy compression, so I save all images as 32-bit-per-pixel png. I could try and find the image on the disk and use that byte-stream instead for a lot of cases, which would bring down file-size if it's a jpeg compressed image.

This would be favourable. Thanks!
