How to split the closed curve?

Hello, I have ellipse surface.

 

What I want to do is to divde the closed ellipse curve into half.

 

It seems that I can use shatter command but it doesnt work.

Just had the same problem but was lucky to figure out what exactly is causing the malfunction.

In my case the problem is that none of the at least two (for a closed curve) splitting parameters (usually "t") is allowed to be "0".

Is this a bug?
