algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi all,
Can anyone help me to find out how is it possible to select
an object by its layer in grasshopper?
I`ve searched for it so many times and I found out that it
would be possible using DotNET VB script. is this the only option?
I went through few sample codes and tutorials and managed to
write a VB script but it didn’t work! ( as im totally new in scripting and the
codding was not easy to understand) .
thanks

thanks Martin for your help.
funny but i didnt know that i can select the layers before baking! as i always use the bake icon from the canvas toolbar and that never gives me any option!
anyway, thanks alot, you have been really helpful. i`m gonna figure out a solution for the rest.

Hi Sam,
sorry, my fault, of course when you using the icon in the canvas toolbar you can't choose the layer.
For this option you have to use the bake option of the single component you want to bake (right click in the middle of the component and then choose bake).
Good luck.
Best,
Martin.
oh no worries, its all because i`m very new in grasshopper :)..
i managed to bake each item with its actual layer using Giulio Piacentino`s definition ( http://www.giuliopiacentino.com/grasshopper-tools/ ).
thank you Martin
i know i`ve asked too many questions but hopefully this one is a simple one (and last one i promise! :) ) is it ever possible to group objects in grasshopper? ( now that i have all the objects baked on x-y plane and i need them to be grouped). how can i do it?
many thanks
Hi Sam,
of course this is possible, you just need to have the latest Grasshopper version (0.8.0010).
There you go into the "Transform" tab and there you've got the "Group" components.
Best,
Martin.
found it! :)
Thank you so much Martin.
all the bests
