How to project a Pattern to a Non planar surface?

I'm working on a pattern. The final form will non planar and my pattern will be projected on it. But I could not find at which stage I should be considering to involve my non planar surface?

Should I be able form my grid on a non planar surface right at the beginning or should I be trying to project my pattern to a surface I constructed right after I finish it?

Any non planar surface would be okey for me at this stage.

Thank you in advance.

I attached some sample files.

Hi.

You can use "Map to Surface" or "Surface Morph". Check attachment. Best.
