how to change X or Y in a grid of points?

Hi guys,

I made a grid of points as the pic shows. How to only change X or Y?

as in this grid , when any one of the two sliders, the X and Y of the points are changing at the sametime.

But now I want to make a grid of points that when I change one parametric, only X or Y of the points can be changed. Could anyone can help me to solve this problem?

I'm ganna make a structure similiar with this spring-loarded boxing glove. that's why I want to make a such a grid first. but, is there any other method to make this stretch-out-and-draw-back structure??
