Ups, as far as i can see there are a couple of closed curves in the z direction lofted to make a surface. Then you apply a hexagon pattern over that. Start with diagrids on surface examples. After that you will see the hexagons are differantiating by the surface's curvature. So where the stress goes up, particles get smaller to form higher resistance. And for doing that you will need attractors, (i only saw point attractors but in this case i think a line attractor shouldbe better anyways) to get them those hexagons smaller at the regions where you want.
( I'm not an savvy on this issue but its a start. if i'm wrong fix it guys )
