How does grasshopper know which point to connect??

Dear all Grasshopper masters,

I made an example from a Grasshopper Roof Truss Tutorial ,

and I have my version in the same file,

Can any one tell me why is the connection in tutorial version so smart?

are there hidden messages in those points?

Add "Graft" at the end. Best.
