algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello, I want to create the effect that an object is moving a long a curved path, but sometimes it will go off the curve and sometimes come back to it.

Thanks!

Sorry... been swamped...

It looks like you want to take a constant length chord and move the endpoints of the chord on the variable curve.

Are you also wanting to maintain a constant distance of mid-chord to curve?  I hope not because it can't be done as far as I know.  You have to either allow the length of the chord to be dynamic, or the cord offset from the curve to be dynamic.

That being said, I'll give it a crack in a bit...

I also notice that in your example file you have only 1/2 of the curved door selected.  Is that because the door flexes in the middle?  Or is the curve of the door fixed from chord end-point to end-point?

Give this a try... it's not real clean but it might be the idea you are looking for.  If you load the 3dm file and gh file you could be able to move the point sample slider and move the door around the curve.  I left your previous curve and definition alone and just added new stuff.  Hopefully you will be able to figure out my logic (which I can't figure out sometimes...)
