algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I need to hinge 49 triangles of different orientation, so that they go from their position to a hanging position.  Right now the hinge joint is at the centroid, however that will change, I'm going to push it farther back on the piece. That I can do, but I have no idea how to hinge the objects. I've attached my model.

would kangaroo possibly do what I want(essentially just respond to gravity)? If so can someone point me in the right direction?
This does sound like something that might be possible in Kangaroo, but I'm not sure I understand your setup.

If your triangles are hung from a single point which isn't the centre of mass, surely they will just rotate so the centre of mass is directly below the support point.
I managed to get the objects to swing but can't quite get the plane of rotation correct. It should be perpendicular to the surface (see images below).
