algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hey everyone,
Newb to grasshopper & the forum. helllooo. Im using the paneling tools add on to create a grid using the image sampler as an attractor. It is almost working how I would like, but not quite. Im trying to achieve a more gradual gradient of points from the image. I have tried several different patterns/images in photoshop, but nothing seems to stretch the gradient of grid points as I would like it to. I have tried adjusting the magnitude of the attractor, but to no avail. The points seem to be attracted to a certain grey tone between the black and white, sort of creating edges lines between pure black and pure white space, whereas I would like the black to be the most densely populated with points and slowly fall off as the gradient recedes to white. There is also a circle geometry related to these points that cannot overlap. Like I said, it would be best if i could achieve this with the image sampler, but if there is another way to create a rolling field/gradient of points, I would be open to suggestion.
Thanks,
Jon

Is it really necessary to shuffle your grid using paneling tool's weight attraction component?
In my opinion, you can generate circle gradient image by just using color brightness value for circle radius. and next time you should check "save in file" option in the image sampler settings. I used another...
Hi hyungsoo,
Thank you for the reply. I just started using grasshopper a few days ago, so im not sure what is necessary, lol. The grasshopper file you linked isnt working, maybe due to the space in the title? could you possibly repost it? I appreciate it!
Here it is.
also, i am trying to accomplish this look without changing the radius of the circle. All the circles need to be the same radius
To do that, you'll have to cull some of your grid points.(more to the bright area)
I really appreciate your help, but im still having trouble downloading your file. would it be possible to upload the .gh instead of the .ghx? maybe thats it? otherwise i might be able to reconstruct this from your image.
One more try.
Hey! those work! Thanks sooo much!
I've sent the wrong file;;, get this.
haha, im home from work now so i cant actually open the file yet. ill let you know how it works tomorrow. much appreciation!
