help with turning torso exercise from arturo tedeschi

Hello everybody!

Im trying to make the Turning Torso but I dont know if Im doing it right...

Im stuck on the second step of the exercise when I have to make "moves" to the 9 sections of floors. The text from Arturo says:

"In the next step multiple copies of the first sector are made by 'nesting' the Move component (in Cross Reference mode). The input parameter step size N of the Series component coincides in this case with the value of the distance bewtween sectors and the number of values C with the number of sectors."

I think my problem is with the cross reference, because the book is based on an older grasshopper version, when the option "cross reference" was hidden in the options of each component. Im a little confused because of it, now the cross reference is a component, right? Where am I supposed to insert in this case?

Somebody has done this exercise in the current grasshopper version? Somebody help meeee :P! lol!

Hello

I am not familiar with the turning torso exercise. cross reference is used when you want to combine all data in a list, lets say A list, with all the data in another list, lets say list B. so the cross reference component has as input A and B, or more if you want using the ZUI.

you can read through this very informative post explaining cross reference.

cheers

and here is a classic example using cross reference

yes i understand and i know how it works, but i dont know why, i cant make it work in this specific situation...

In that case uploading your grasshopper file would help because i cant tell without the file why it does not work.

The confusion is that Arturo's book (a good book as it is) happened to get published right before the change to list options becoming separate components. They used to be just a clickable option in every component. In most cases simply grafting one input will merrit the same results. For instance in Alex example just plug the 4 points and 6 points into the line component directly and graft just one of the inputs.
