algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi All,

I've started working on a Hex surface to get a handle on how it's done, but am having trouble with the lofting section.  I think it either might have something to do with the curve direction, or how the curves are hooked up to the join, or some deep data tree error, but I've spent all day on it and could really use some help from one of the experts.

Here is the def, it needs a surf and point for the attractor, which may not be clear up front.

in red is what i change from your deff. The fist is to order your curves to can join right, be carefull because order matter! and you have plug the lines into join but not in the correct order, your pattern was incomplete, check it again and you could see it. You need to read the output for every opperation to see if things are right. Cheers ;)

Very appreciative for your help.  Thank you very much lucas.  Definitely saved the day.  That is what I thought with the curves but I kept hooking them up and nothing.  Was wondering does it also matter curve direction or does the join end up rebuilding the curve?

The next step is figuring out how to make the opening vary in size depending on where the attractor is.  Also, I was wondering how would you then make this a 5 sided surface?  I'm assuming same concept, different connection of curves group a and b but how would you keep it so the 5 sided piece wouldn't interset each other as this is my next step to get the look I'm after. Then do I just use nest to start layout the pieces in Grasshopper, or in rhino after baked?

Figured out the hole distance, didn't see that it was way over to the right and was messing with the original attraction point.  Thanks.  Also, didn't realize it took 2.

Yes, it's an amazing thing this grasshopper ,I love it. And you are a wizard!  Hey was wondering, on the definition, how to get the thickness operation so that it bends on the side of the surface that is the front, not the back.  I know I have to flip something around.  Any hints or suggestions?

Just change the vector direction at final move before loft. Write expresion -t. ;)
