Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

hi everyone i'm new in this forum .
I'm working whit a surface and with a geometry (normal box) and what i have to do is to put multiples of my geometry on the surface but every box has to be oriented parallel to axe z and not perpendicular to every point of my surface .
I don't know how could i insert a command in grasshopper that orients my boxes parrallel to z axe --
I attached  an image with the surface and what i have done in grasshopper ..

Thanks in advance

I'm not sure if you're actually trying to create boxes or just using them as placeholders, but you could simply extrude a subdivided surface vertically.

Likewise you could extrude your base surface vertically, explode, subdivide the top and bottom surfaces, and use [Blend Box] between two surfaces.

Thank you taz , your reply has helped me but actually what i'd like to create is silmilar to this video that i have found but where there aren't any explications of the work .

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6cPINynKwoM&feature=PlayList&... .

In my surface all the boxes should be aligned at the surface but they have to keep their shape of box .. in your image the upper face of the boxes is cut from the upper surface ,,,
Anyway thanks a lot hope you can help me ...
Check his blog. The definition is from an older version but you can follow his thinking to try and reproduce it.

Ok , thanks ...
there are two commands that i can't find in grasshopper , they are similar but not the same ... one is "SORT"(the one in orange) and the other is "INT" .
Double click the canvas to search for available components...

Sort > Sort List
Int > Domain (this name has changed)
